Guys, Here's How to Get That Fresh-Faced Look.

Guys, Here's How to Get That Fresh-Faced Look.

There was a time when men could get away with being unkempt; when male grooming meant little more than shaving and having a haircut from time to time. Those days are gone, and these days, guys want to put as much effort into their appearance as their female peers. I mean, who doesn’t want to look fresh-faced and fantastic?

If you’re a guy who’s just getting into skincare and you want to ensure you always look as fresh-faced as possible, here are some tips that will help you to take much better care of your skin…

Cleanse, tone and moisturise.

If you want to look as fresh-faced and youthful as possible, then there is no getting around the fact that you need to cleanse, tone and moisturise daily. Doing so will remove dirt and oil, not to mention various pollutants, and give you a plump, healthy complexion that simply radiates good grooming. It may also take you a while to find the products that best work with your skin type, but once you do, you will be really looking good.

Never step out without sunscreen.

So many men in this country will only apply sunscreen if they are heading out on a hot day or going on holiday if they even bother to apply it all, but if you are serious about improving the appearance of your skin and looking fresh-faced, you should really be applying sunscreen every day. Why? Because the sun’s rays are not only extremely dangerous to your skin, but also because a high SPF sun lotion will prevent the sun’s UV rays from prematurely ageing your skin. You’ll be less likely to develop fine lines and wrinkles, and you can hold off on the grizzly old guy look for a few more years!

Exfoliate regularly.

Daily exfoliation is often recommended, but you may only need to exfoliate once or twice a week if you have particularly sensitive skin because overdoing it can cause redness and skin damage. Why exfoliate at all? Because it is the only effective way to get rid of dead skin which can give you an unhealthy sallow complexion. Not only that but it will help to unclog your pores which means you will be less likely to get an outbreak of acne.

Another great thing about regular exfoliation for guys is the fact that it will soften those facial hair follicles, which means you will be able to accomplish a smoother, more comfortable shave.

Use eye cream.

Yes, men can use eye cream, and if you want to avoid having crinkly eyes that can make you look tired, then it is a really good idea to apply a little hydrating eye cream to the area in question each day. Oh, and try to choose an eye cream that has been formulated with men in mind because they will probably work best for you.

Apply lip balm.

If you’re a guy, unless you’re into lipstick, it can be harder to get your lips looking good, especially if they are prone to cracking, but cracked, flaky lips never look good and they can make you look older than you actually are. That’s why you should invest in a good hydrating lip balm and use it daily. The best lip balms contain SPF to protect against the sun as well as other difficult weather situations. Apply at least once in the morning and once before bed, using in between whenever you feel the need.

Trim your facial hair.

The best way to look fresh-faced is to completely remove your beard and any other facial hair you may have - well not the eyebrows, but you should pluck or wax them to prevent them from looking like an overgrown old man’s eyebrows. However, if you would prefer to keep your facial hair, the very least you will need to do in order to look well-groomed is to keep it trimmed at all times. The second it starts to grow out of its neatly manicured shape, get snipping!

Keep it clean too.

If you have a beard and/or moustache, then you are never going to look as fresh-faced as you potentially could if you do not take the time to keep your beard clean. You should, ideally, be washing and shampooing your beard at least as often as you wash your hair. You should also regularly comb your beard if it is long enough, and maybe invest in some beard oil or balm to keep it looking glossy and well-conditioned. This will help your beard to smell good too, which is always a nice bonus.

Eat well and drink water.

Of course, there is only so much that a good skincare and grooming regime can do, and if you want to look truly fresh-faced, you will also need to take a look at your diet. Diets that are high in sugars and trans-fats are likely to dry out your skin and cause free radicals to form, which will cause you to age prematurely. The good news is, a diet that is rich in fruits, veggies and healthy fats will do the opposite and keep your skin looking young, healthy and radiant for longer.

Drinking plenty of water will also help to keep your complexion clear and your skin youthful and plump, so be sure to switch some of your daily sodas or whatever with pure water - your skin will thank you for it.

Use a little makeup.

Of course, sometimes your skin will not be looking its best for whatever reason, and when that happens, using a little concealer to hide blemishes or dark circles or whatever is a really good way of retaining your fresh-faced look even when your skin isn’t behaving. The key to doing this well is to choose the makeup that matches your skin tone as closely as possible and using it as sparingly as possible.

Taking good care of your skin is something you should be doing whoever you are and the above tips will help you to do just that! x Neil.

How To Use The Madara SOS Hydra Intense Rose Jelly.

Applying the gel hydrant to clean skin every morning and evening is made easy by the pump dispenser while you can follow on with your typical moisturiser over the top or just apply your chosen SPF over it in the morning. I love how it applies perfectly on the skin and dries down to leave skin perfectly balanced and hydrated while it does NOT pill or flake off because there are no silicones in the formula.
I love the Madara time miracle hydra firm hyaluron concentrate jelly that i previously blogged about but when your wanting to calm and soothe stressed-out complexions the SOS Hydra Intense Rose Jelly is an ideal product to reach for and apply. The Madara SOS Hydra Intense Rose Jelly 75ml is priced at £29.95 and available from here: Madara SOS Hydra Intense Rose Jelly x Neil.

skincare
Re-balance and refresh the complexion when spritzing the Teree Verdi Balancing Mist over the skin after cleansing. The alcohol-free Rosa damascena (rose) floral water produces a relaxing scent while also containing antioxidants and antimicrobial properties to and for the skin. I really like how the spray head delivers the perfect mist to either apply to a cotton pad and sweep over the skin or just spritz over the skin to refresh and rebalance through out the day, anytime you need it. Floral waters or hydrosols are diluted versions of essential oils so i would avoid if you have sensitive skin and cannot tolerate fragrance as these contain fragrant components.
skincare
Nourish and support the skin when applying the Ooh! Oils Of Heaven Blackcurrant Oil that contains polyunsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E. Possessing anti-inflammatory properties because of the linoleic and stearidonic acids it contains, it is particularly beneficial to help with irritated skin types as well as acne prone and sensitive skin. Applying a few drops to a cleansed skin to the face and neck the oil instantly absorbs to leave the skin feeling perfectly nourished without feeling or looking greasy. You can apply a few drops into your moisturiser or after (but before your sunscreen) while also this skin-supporting oil can be applied to the body as a little amount goes along way,
skincare
Help skin retain moisture while also nourishing when applying the Butterwhips Warmly Relaxing whipped body butter. The highly emollient body product contains shea butter with oils of almond and sunflower with added tocopherol to keep the skin soft, smooth and nourished. Suitable for 12yrs+ the 97% organic body butter needs to be warmed between your hands before spreading over the body, i like to apply to damp skin after a shower or bath to seal in the moisture on the skins surface. The warm comforting bergamot with the calming lavender is a perfect antidote to calm the body and mind in the evening, prepping for a restful nights sleep.
skincare
Enhance the lips and cheeks with a fresh touch of colour when applying the Inika Lip & Cheek Cream in Dust. The cream itself is an oil based product from the emollient Carnauba Wax and sweet almond oil used for you to apply the product easily and help spread-ability. The tin oxide, mica and titanium dioxide are used to help achieve an effective pigment result while the colour is achieved by the iron oxides included. The soft and subtle pink colour of dust is buildable to apply either to bare skin or over your foundation and is suitable for all skin tones because it perfectly achieves a natural flush every skin tone has.

Weleda Skin Food Body Butter.

skincare
Rejuvenate and nourish dry skin when applying the Weleda Skin Food Body Butter to specific areas or for an all over intensive body treatment. Body butters in general are typically thicker than a lotion because they contain more oils and emollients, perfect for drier skin types that need that extra boost of nourishment and care. Lets take a look at Weleda's body butter and how to use, disclaimer the links used are not affiliated and are placed for to discover the product.

Weleda Skin Food Body Butter Ingredients.

skincare
The Weleda Skin Food body butter contains a host of emollients to help nourish the skin while also counteracting transepidermal water loss by them providing a protective barrier over it, to seal in moisture. Application Of The Weleda Skin Food Body Butter.

skincare
Presented in a green jar made of 85% recycled glass, you can easily access the product by twisting off the cap before applying. The first thing i was surprised about is the texture as typically body butters are usually solid and you have to warm the product up before applying, not this one! The creamy texture instantly feels comforting when massaging into the skin while those rich emollient butters with the fragranced aromatic Lavender and Orange add to the intensive skin nourishment you will experience. I would suggest to only apply a little (a tiny amount goes a long way) with applications as even though it states being non-greasy if you apply too much you might slightly feel oily, but i was quite impressed on the long-lasting nourishment that helps to condition and moisturise the skin wherever you choose to apply. The Weleda Skin Food Body Butter is priced at £19,75 and available here: Weleda Skin Food Body Butter x Neil.
